Tires
I have been using Dunlop HD tires on my motorcycle for 4 years and thought they were good tires. A few months ago I went to purchase a new set for the front and rear. I went to Harley Davidson Service Center and has 2 new tires mounted. Well after riding on the tires for a week, I started to look a little closer at the tires that were mounted, and I noticed cracks in between the tread. Well if you know anything about tires when you see cracking that is a sign of age. I then looked at the manufacturers date and the tires were manufactured in 2006 and I purchased the tires in 2009. i don't have to tell you that I was little beside myself. So I went back to the place of purchase and spoke to the service manager about the inconsistency. He told men " there is nothing wrong with the tires and I will not replace them" Harley Davidson Service Manager. So here I am stuck with a new front and rear tire that I will probably dispose them.
Well for every dark cloud there is a silver lining. I figured this is the time to research and change tire brands. A very good friend of mine has been using nothing but Metzler tires for years and swears by the tire. I did a little research, and found the cost is close to the same as the Dunlop tires. So I purchased the tires, and I have to say I am so pleased with the results. When I first left the mechanic and rode home I could not believe there could be so much difference in the handling performance, an unbelievable difference that is very noticeable right away.
Well check out the blog 6-8 months and will do a follow up story on the durability of the tire wear.
